Ah, yeah I can understand that. I'm just envious of anyone that can have any kind of tank in their office 8)

I've been plugging away when I have some time. A few pics since the last post.

Here is the only one I have of the stand and the hole we cut in the back for access to electricity.

I don't have pictures, but we do have the sides on, and now we have to make a door. I might get a chance to work on that tomorrow.

I still have a stand to build for the QT, but that should be fairly quick.

Next, I bought plumbing and put together what I could with the measurements I have now. Here is is from Durso's to sump.

Last, a pic my sump and fuge tanks. Bottoms being painted black. I still need to drill the 'fuge so it will feed into the sump.

So, making progress. As far as the room prep goes, we are moving out the old computer desk tonight (where the tank will go). I have to paint, and have a visit from an electrician, then it should be ready to go in.

I'm excited, but taking my time. It will all come together and be ready when it will be ready!

Got a chance to work on the stand today, and made good progress. First, fabricated the door...

And here it is finished, letting it dry for a few days before sanding, filling, finishing work. Should be fairly quick to finish up.

Next, got the vents installed in the sides, and the final fitting of the side panels (the guy I bought this from planning on putting doors on all three sides. While I love that idea, it won't work for my plans. The back two thirds of the tank/stand will be in a recessed portion of my wall and will fit fairly tight. So, the vents are there to help keep air moving through the cabinet.

It's all filled, and ready for final sanding and paint. Inside will be white, the outside will be a dark espresso brown, satin finish. Not sure how that finish will look so we will see.

Next on the build list--stand for the QT.

    Progress is a good thing.

    Update:

Progress has been slower than I'd prefer, but hey at least there is progress. Between starting a new job, and having a 2 year old (not to mention a 2 year old with special needs) I'd say I'm pretty much right on track.

Unfortunatley I don't have a ton of pictures on progress right now, but I will try and put those up in the next week or so.

The display stand is all but done. Just need to install hardward on the door. It turned out great.

I have just about finished fabrication of the QT stand, and it turned out very nice as well. I have to sand out the filler, fab a door, and paint but its well on its way.

Next steps are to paint the room and adjoining room (i've been dreading/procrastinating big time on that one), have an electrician come and install a new circuit/quad outlet, and fabricate the shelf to go above the DT. In the meantime I hope to move in the stand and do a leak/system test before moving it into place.

The only real picture I do have is the results of my first attempt at drilling glass (for my 'fuge). I'm guessing you can anticipate the result:

Not to worry, it was an old tank and served as good practice.

More pics soon! I'm more than ready to get this thing up, but it's looking like September is going to be a busy month...

One tip on the drilling...don't push the drill at all. Just hold it vertically. Let the drill do the work. I start, count to 20, and add more water. Again...count to 20...etc. I go with the slowest speed setting on my variable speed drill, but have the throttle engaged fully. If you have a drill with a clutch, use it. If your bit catches and you don't have one, you will break the glass.

Good luck! Everything looks great...really coming along!

Great progress and +1 to going slow and letting the bit & weight of the drill do the work for you.
