congratulations on the new additions! the clown is beautiful! I'm going to go look up a hector goby because I've not heard of them before. Hope all do well for you and I'm happy for you that you're back in the game!

How did I miss a tank thread by almighty THOR????LOL
Hector's gobies and Rainsford Gobies need filamentous algaes to survive so most of our reef tanks are counterproductive shall we say.lol
Read a study on these guys where wild specimens were captured and stomach contents collected. They were trying to determine if the gobies were eating the algaes or the small crustaceans living in them.It turned out over 80 percent of there stomachs was in fact algae. So they are eating both but greens probably make up a good portion of diet/nutrition.
Love the Clown and your setup looks just like someone elses.hmmmmmlol

Thank you OFK, it's good to be back. Were you able to see the pics this time?

Hey Vin! I've read the same. I'm hoping I can supplement enough with prepared algaes. Have you had any prior experience with these guys? I hope I'm not crazy for trying...

Yeah the clown is cool. I hope she doesn't prevent me from adding one more fish. We will see.

And my tank looks like someone else's? Nuh, uh! Whose? Tell me, tell me, tell me!

Just in case I need to include the following legal disclaimer:

All tanks appearing in this thread are creations of the poster. Any resemblance to other tanks, currently or previously running is purely coincidental.

    Thanks for tagging along!

I have tried them a few times but gave up.The girl at my LFS was able to keep one for several years but she had access to lots of rocks with algae. She would just plop a couple dirty 1s down in there from time to time.Good luck.Try some ON Formula 2.Let us know how it does. They are fairly shy.The Rainsford was my first Goby.Have a soft spot in my head for them.lol

The diatoms are coming! The diatoms are coming!

Oh, and I bought a nice green and pink p. damicornis colony. Here it is just a few minutes after putting in my tank. Full PE today so it is comfy.

Otherwise, I have not yet gotten a good pic of the Hectors. Pretty elusive. He is coming out more and more during the day and is eating. So far so good.

I bought a small CUC this weekend and will likely need more. I moved the Zoa frag to its permanent location, which appears to have miffed my clown. Since I moved the frag, she has been hanging out in the cubby with the hectors. Crazy fish!

Speaking of zoas, they are already adding polyps so they are happy too.

The only negative is that I have WAY over fed this week trying to see what the fish will like. Phosphates jumped as a result, so I added gfo and promise to behave myself with the feedings.

    enjoy!

I know right. Well, as long as she just acts like a spoiled child/princess we will be okay. If she starts to act like a sociopath, then the drinking begins. Ha!

Thank you kind sir! By the way, the scale of your tank still amazes me. When you think that mine is roughly 1/30 the size of yours...wow!

Why thank you OFK! How's are you adapting to sump life these days? I'm guessing you will never go back...

Now I must practice patience. With my tank up I have been on a mission thinking out what corals I want, and where. Deep breath: now is time to wait and take my time. Lame.

Oh yes, my friend sent me pics of my new setosa and green bird's nest frags. He will drop them by in about a month, which will be good timing. Gotta figure out my dosing plan in the meantime. Currently it consists of a daily water change: big gulp cup of water out of the tank, and a big gulp cup of new saltwater goes into the tank. Nice and easy routine after lights out. I like it that way.
