Just thought I would share, I had purchased a candy coral about a month ago and it had 23 polyps. About a week ago I noticed that one of the polyps started looking a little oblonged. Everyday you could see that it was starting to split. Yesterday I turned on the lights and started checking things out and there is a second mouth. :) How long does it take for each of them to have their own "branch" so to say?

Don't know but I'll be able to tell you soon 'cause I have two polyps splitting. They have two mouths and you can tell one is starting to branch apart.... :)

I have had a green candy cane in my tank for 6 months. No splitting yet, one mouth and one branch!!!!! I also have 3 other kinds of candy canes, never had one split yet! I too have wondered how long it takes, they must not like my tank very much.
