    Glad you're using a refractometer. I never used Brightwell products but have heard very positive comments about them. Maybe someone else can chime in who knows more about them.

    I have never used Brightwell but if you just recently switched I would hold off on purchasing anything.Your salt will quickly raise your levels.;)
    When I used CPS I was getting 425 calcium,9-10 Alk.,and a Mag level of 1300.

    How long do you think I could hold off before I would need to add supplements? I just don't want to risk losing anything because my levels are low.

    You should see a noticeable change after your next wc.;)
    Your levels are not that far off.

    Another point not mentioned is that since you are changing salt, try not to make a lot of other changes because you could have disaster on your hands simply from all the changes themselves.

    Oftentimes a drastic alteration is necessary for various reasons but try not to be rash and move too quickly.

    Sounds like I will give it a couple weeks to see if the levels increase. Would hate to start adding supplements and have the readings go off the chart and the tank crash. I have been keeping my salinity at 1.024 should I increase this so the other levels come up?

    i love the brightwell line. I like teh brightwell magnesioun and the calcion. However with a softy tank, I agree with Vinney........I wouldnt focus to much on dosing yet. Keep up with the water chagnes with the new salt and i think the levels should catch up

    I like to keep my SG at 1.025 to 1.026. On my smaller tanks I keep it lower at 1.024 to allow for evaporation, however 75g I would shoot for at least 1.025

    Just thought I would post an update on my tank parameters. After a few water changes my tests results are.

    salinity = 1.025
    alkalinity = 8.7
    calcium = 400
    magnesium = 1200

    I see that my alkalinity is a little high should I be worried about this or is this a product of me raising my salinity.
