Well im not getting my light, I decided filtering the water was more important right now. I was looking through LA last night as started reading about the tidepool sump. It looks like a good sump to me, but ive never had one. I plan on putting live rock rubble in the top chamber, and moving my skimmer and heaters down there. It has a big bio wheel, which I like. I know alot of people dont like to use them on salt water set ups, but every little bit of bio filtering I can get the better. Let me hear your thoughts on this sump, I would like to get it later this week.

these are the sumps that i had to deal with at petco... i hated them the skimmer (built in) never worked and the wheel just turned into a nitrate factory.

with that said I personally hate petco, and the way that everything is run there

80-100 fish during shipment and all of which went in on that same sump. SO as for the sump i would be able to tell you how it would run on a responsible reef keepers tank such as yourself, but IME they just didnt do what was needed and they killed fish...

Michael, I have a mag7 which I use to power my Aquac EV180...very quiet as is the 9.5 which I also have.
If I can offer you a suggestion, why not just buy a glass tank for your sump...save the extra money to buy better lighting or additional corals etc. for your tank. The thing that is also worth taking into consideration is that the sump will more than likely be under your main tank enclosed in your tank stand...therefore, you will not be able to view it all that much so why spend alot if you don't have to especially if you aren't going to be seeing much of it. It isn't like a protein skimmer which, then I would say spend the exra money to get a good one!
Let us know what you decide!

 CR I am starting to think cheaper with this idea. It will be under my tank, I just want it to do the job. I will go to walmart tomarrow, and see what I can find, hehe.
