I set up a seperate 10 gallon tank and slowly acclimate them over a few days. For me, living in NY, the temp difference is tremendous, so that's why I take the extra precaution. I fell in today trying to get off a sandbar I got trapped on by the high tide while collecting, and I was frozen by the time I got back to my car! right now, I have snails and hermits acclimating to higher temps and my water chemistry right now.

The only thing I would be cautious about is the type of hermit crabs. Some are omnivores and may end up eating other inverts and such. Good hunting and hope you take pictures of your findings.
