+1 to everything that Corailline has said.

The first time my tiger pistol snapped, we thought the tank had cracked. It is definitely loud, but we have gotten used to it. It usually pops when the halides go off, as if to say goodnight and then will pop during the day if it doesn't like something or my triggers get to close to his burrow.

Ive had my tiger pistol and yellow watchman goby for a few months and he hasnt done any damage to my cleaner shrimp or hermits, I target feed him a few pieces of small mysis everyday, he comes up to the end of the turkey baster and sticks his claws up the tip of it to grab the mysis. one time my cleaner shrimp was trying to steal his food and he didnt snap at it or anything, just ran back to his burrow.

I have a randalls pistol and I haven't see her attack my hermits nor my snails. I haven't seen her for a few days but her burrows are kept up so she is still alive. I'm just hoping gman finds her soon.

my pistol shrimp is awesome. he is a tiger as well. i have him paired with a yasha goby. when i got him i put him in my 8 gal biocube, they paired in about 48 hours. he did grab hermits and snails, but they crawl out. he also grabbed a kenya tree and some free floating mushrooms, never saw them again lol. he never harmed my peppermint or cleaner, but i do believe he was the cause of my mysterious pom pom crab disappearance.

Mine is a brat. He snaps at everything. I mean everything, snails, hermits, rocks, and even large food pieces. He actually wakes me up some nights. Mine has killed two pep shrimps. Amazing creatures though.

I've had my tiger pistol shrimp (paired with a YWG) for 2+ years. He definitely is loud when he snaps, but he's never bothered any of my shrimp. I had a cleaner shrimp in with him for 2+ years and now have a fire shrimp. He has pulled in a few snails, but they usually wander out later. The only thing he doesn't like is when my red serpent star slides into his burrow. He will snap in rapid fire and the serpent star usually comes flying out of there! It's pretty funny to watch. ;D

I've had everal different pistol shrimp over the years and love them. My wife says the noise drives her nuts but I don't even notice it. It is loud tho. I have never seen any of mine go after anything in the tank but it will snap at anything that gets near it. Its surprising how quick they will pair up with a goby. You will definately enjoy it.

My pistol is cool andvery interesting but he never paired with my goby and I lost my cleaner shrimp...I blame it on the pistol but I don't know for certain I just assume since I had the cleaner for almost a year before I got the pistol and less then a week after I got the pistol my cleaner was gone. It didn't take care of the hitchhiker crab issue though. I periodically give the pistol half a silver side though now. Its fun watching him fend off the hermits who come knocking at his door after the food.
