The problem is I have somewhat limited space. Check out my build thread to see...

Space inside the cabinet was/is not a problem. The problem was not enough space in the sump. hence, the redesign.

What would you suggest I use to make of this space, or how should make better use of it?

I would suggest moving the reactors out of the sump, and just using pumps from the return chamber to pump out the water, and dump it back into the same compartment.

I just had the same problem with trying to fit a 15g tall under my 55g. there was enough room, just center wood brace needed to be cut.. so I ended up going with a 10g. 15g tall is for sale now :(

Raven, that's a good idea, but then my sump would be too long. :-/

Thanks for letting me know, Night Rida. though a 15g is too small for my equipment.

Sorry, I'm not following this logic; humor me for a second. Reactors tend not to need to be submerged/partially submerged like in-sump skimmers, and can be placed anywhere you can plumb to.

You can use the extra sump length to add fuge space (probably a couple extra gallons there, or give you more room from minimum to maximum level in the return area.

It may sound weird. But I have a little over 5 ft under the tank. Half of this (30") will be used to hold the 29g QT. The other half shall be used for this sump.

I don't mean to make this confusing...If it is, I'm sorry. (lol)
I know about the reactors. They could hang on the side of the sump. This is fine. Baffles would be moved perpendicular to the way they are now(in the drawing). Thus adding another 3" & the fuge will need to be compromised. where should it go then?

    :( :( :-/

I dunno. If you can fit it, I'd use the sump as a standard skimmer > return < fuge setup, with the reactors either in front or behind it, using up the width (if there's room that way) instead of the length. The reactors don't even need to hang; they can go right on the floor of the stand. My GFO/carbon reactor is hanging on the wall behind my tank (not on the tank itself), just with stiff vinyl tubes connecting it to the tank.

Well taht is the problem. The skimmer section has to be 12 " for the skimmer. The return pump will need about 8". + 6" for 2 bubble traps if I do it the normal way(like you suggested above).

4" x 12" just seems like a small fuge to me. Is that enough?
    The one above is 6" x 18".
