ok guys.. Washinton state has an initiative that is I864. this propses a Tax saving of 25%.  from what i understand it wont save the tax payers, but instead keep the distric from collection.  Now.. if this passes it will cut more money, from an already depleated budget.  This will eliminate cities funding for public service such as police and fire.  It will even cut funding to Libraries.  I ask that all curious be very well informed before signing this initiative ballot.  it has not yet reached the 250,000 signatures required.  I am not saying to vote for it, but just be informed about where the money loss will go.  Longview Washington alone stands to lose  $1.8 billion in revenue.  what happens to small cities that dont have money in reserve to play catchup?

are you going to sign to put this on the ballot?

    Salutations new2salt2

First, let me say, that generally I use 3Reef as an "escape" from the real world conumdrums of "politics", "religion" , etc...and would really be sad to see the forum get involved in those kinds of issues --- even in the "Bucket" unless somehow "Reef Keeping" related.  Plenty of other forums out there in the big wide web to post your particular biased viewpoint on any of those issues.

To easy to stir up a "hornet's nest" of controversy over issues many could care less about...Esp, unlike, our main topic, each of us is an "expert" in our own particular warped view...& know that "ours" is the correct one, and any opposing one is just plain "wrong" -  :p

As your posted topic hits close to home...just would like to say I know I can spend the 25% reduction in my property tax's much more to my liking then the State...ummm, could do some pretty fancy "upgrades" on my tank with it... ;)

Want a "fair" tax.?..then look at income taxes, .... or my personal favorite, $3-5 tax per/gallon of gas...

The State educational system is as bloated with unneeded bureaucracy as any...and could use a healthy forced "redirection" resulting in a vastly lowered budget...

    OK...my 2 cents worth...

(see the problem with bringing up "politics", "religion" , etc...?? - I am always going to be right...you wrong... :-/)

And that being said....this being "The Bucket"...please post away on anything that strikes your fancy... :)

    End of discussion....

Hey well said Scott. Politics & Religion...........2 ways to ruin a good reef site.
While I don't agree with all of MR. Eyeman's initiaves, I know that I can manage my own money better than most government officials.

As stated by Matt several weeks ago. Lets try and steer clear of Politics, Religion, and the other social taboo subject on 3Reef. We all have a bond with Reef Aquariums lets not find out what we don't have in common.
