I've currently got a 120 Oceanic that I've decided is just too small for me so I'm looking to move up.

Ideally I'd like a 5' tank to fit in the space I've got, but a 6' tank could work. A 5'x2.5' would be perfect.

    So far I'm looking at:

    1) A standard 180.

This is nice because it is relatively inexpensive and common. But then it is also a little boring.

    2) Building a custom 5'x2.5' tank from a reputable manufacturer (I've used Oceanic, but boy are they expensive - top of the line, though).

Gets me what I want, but at a hefty price.

    3) This Company

Looks really cool, but I've not heard of them. Anyone know these guys? Very pricey, but very nice looking.

    4) Try a Marineland ultra-wide tank (5'x3')

    A great tank, but I don't think I've got the 3' width

Anyone with any input or other ideas?

It's just going to be exspensive. I want a 60x30x24 too. I've heard some not so great stuff about Glas Cages, but they are popular. Lee Mar tanks are also popularOceanic sold out to another company. They do make good tanks. The original Oceanic crew is now Deep Sea Aquatics.....they are even more exspenive. They do make a "standard" 60x30x24 185g.....I think it was priced at $1300. They only sell through retailers though. My LFS uses them. Delivered right to the store. They will of course do complete custom. Of course when you talk to them..... nobody can make a tank worth a darn except them.???

Don't know where you are located but I have a friend with a 210g Perfecto glass 7' tank for sell. Just needs drilled.

Good to know about Deep Sea Aquatics and I had heard the same about Glass Cages. I used them for a cheap acrylic fuge, but when I mentioned to a buddy in the business about using them for the main tank he expressed concerns about the craftsmanship. He said sometimes you get a great tank and others one only worthy of a frag tank in the garage.

I have a 180 wide w/overflows and starphire glass on front and sides from glass cages 2 years now. very nice to deal with and there delivery truck point was only 40min from my house. This was my 1st larger tank, I also got the stand and canopy from them only thing is, wish the holes in the stand for the overflows in/out had more room very hard to tighten the bulkheads.

So I've decided... or at least narrowed it down to a couple choices.

I'm either going with the Deep Sea Aquatics 185 or a custom Perfecto which would be the same foot print as the 185 (60"x30") but would be 3" taller at 27" tall. That would put it at just shy of 210 gallons. The deciding factor will be price. If the perfecto comes in at decently less then I'll go that route. I figure that both will have center overflow and starfire glass with the moulding hidden by the canopy.

Either way I am having a stand custom made. And when I say custom, I mean custom. You guys are just going to have to wait for the pics, but boy will I have a unique stand and canopy! I can guarantee there is not another like it in the world.

I'm also moving away from my LED lighting and going with 2x400W metal halides and 4x4' T5s. Will also probably add some nocturnal LEDs, but haven't decided yet.
