    how long should i wait before i try coral in my tank 6+ months. oh and ill be going with softies.

    When your cycle is complete (as is your case after 6 mos.), and you discover you've developed the skills to keep calcium, magnesium and alkalinity at the proper levels consistently over time.

    Some don't wait and introduce corals as soon as the cycle is over (provided they have ample lighting and flow), and sometimes they suffer no ill effects--but to be safe, I'd go with the scheme above.

    I would say about 2 weeks after the cycle if your going to do somthing like green star polyp or xenias

    i waited three months before i got my first corals. def worth the wait.

    6 months minimum has always been my advice.

    lol, I wish I could take that credit, unfortunately life throws a curveball at you occasionally. In this case it was the need to replace the heat pump at my rental property in the middle of a heatwave followed 2 months later by the tenants moving out. property was overdue for new carpets and paint, combined with some required exterior upkeep and I have not had a spare $10 for fish or frags :(

    I added corals about 2 weeks after my cycle had finished. I started with easy corals, zoas and mushrooms, gsp. I also added a clam at about week 6 and no ill effects, he's still going strong.
