So I recently got an established 75 gallon tank with 20 gallon sump/fuge from a guy on Craigslist. It came with a purple pseudochromis he's doing really well and he is constantly hunting for pods. I have been testing the water and everything looks good. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 5 nitrates, and 8.0 ph. I have been adding buffer to get the ph up a bit. So now I'm going to buy my first fish:cheesy:. I was thinking of getting a foxface or a yellow tang. Which one would typically be more hardy, and are these OK choices?

    Thanks,
    Landon

Do you have one? Are they fairly hardy? I don't want to fail on my first fish.

Yellow tangs IME are a hardy fish, with lots of personality
not a ich prone as other tangs IME and do a decent job tidying up the tank (always browsing)

fox faces are nice enough dont get me wrong, but out of the 2 choices given Yellow tang would be my choice

Yellow tangs are generally recommended for 90gallong + here on 3reef

Though I have no experience with one

Foxface isn't the hardiest and I normally see those added successfully on older tanks. With your, essentially, only a tank move I'd say how 'old' your tank is would be debatable. How long was it setup before you got it?

    Just my 2 cents.

    I love my wrasse.
