There are some pics of the tank. It was running for 3 years before I got it and I only used the sand and rock that came with it so it should be good.

dont purchase yellow tang as your first fish..
think about the stock list that you want to eventually have, and start with fish that are less territorial.. if you introduce the yellow tang first, you never be able to introduce another tang without it getting bullied by the yellow tang..
i would think about maybe some hardier fish like clownfish first.. since that's always on everyone's list and it's hardy fish.. some cycles seem to be finished yet they come back and clownfish are strong enough to survive those last stages of cycles.. then you can maybe think about another tang, perhaps a blue tang? yellow tang is one of the last fish i would add to an aquarium..
happy reefing, anymore questions, feel free to let me know

Have to disagree with you on this one--My Yellow Tang has never bothered any addition to my tank, and he was the second fish in.

okay well, just because it is doing fine in your tank, doesn't mean it's going to be fine in every other tank.. also doesn't mean that if it's mean in my tank, it's going to be mean in every other tank.. but by not taking that precaution of it possibly being mean and you not being able to introduce anymore tangs is better not going to be better than taking the precaution and introducing it as one of your last fish..
if your water parameters tell that the cycle is over, sometimes that's not the case anyways, and you can get a few hardier fish from your stock list that can withstand those mini cycles to come..
    just my advice though
the yellow tang issue though, i've seen in my brother's tank and 2 of my friends' tanks.. up to you to take a chance though..
i'm sure other people here can agree with me on this one

My experience has been similar to above although I never added additional tangs, I will say my experience of the yellow was the same as Robmans, never had an issue with subsequent stockings of different species - I recall I added clowns, a flame angel, that went and a coral beauty was added, that went, and a rusty was added ( 3 dwarf angels and 3 consecutive coral samplers if it where not for the bad luck, I had no luck at all)

I had tiny hippo in after the YTB and then added the yellow, then pair of clowns and then went through 3 different dwarf angels and none of these fish had any issues with or from the yellow tang

although they all got the YTB official welcome

i guess you can choose to listen to them and buy the yellow first
but i've seen it first hand many times, just a heads up

Just my 2 cents, Love our yellow tang, one of my favorite fish in our tank. He is very affectionate and will come right up to the glass when you are near the tank and its almost like he listens to me when I tell him to move. I always have a hard time taking pictures of the tank because he will keep swimming by and ruining the shots when he is not the subject.

As for him bothering other fish I having seen it yet but I could see where it could be a problem since he is the largest fish we have, although he wasn't the first fish in the tank he also wasn't the last.

But I also would agree to put in other smaller more hardy fish first.

They do eat allot though, and are messy poopers, and I am constantly struggling to fatten him up without overfeeding the tank.

Take a look our my avatar, Thats Casmire our yellow,

    Good Luck.

maybe some misunderstanding above.. but my yellow tang does not bother any other fish at all either.. but has bullied a powder brown tang that was bigger than itself and bullied another yellow i tried to introduce at the same time i introduced the yellow.. the yellow i have now familiarized itself quickly around the tank and started bullying my other yellow that i added at the same time.. it's left any other fish i've added to the tank alone..
but it will not tolerate any other tangs.. my 2 cents.. and my last 2 cents
