Looks like your on your way to a healthy looking tank again...A little cleaning tip for power heads that I use when the stuff builds up alot and is hard to get off .I mix up some vineger and water in a bucket then let it sit in there 24 hrs then, scrub with unused tooth brush rinse with ro/water..also if you throw a filter pad/sock on your drain you can catch some of the little stuff and clear up the water a bit(but make sure to clean them regularly)..well hope you get it back to new again..K+ to ya for your effort..

    Here you go...

I actually took this picture yesterday, a few hours after things had cleared up. I took it because it had already started to coalesce back into a slimy sheet on top of the sand, just a few hours after breaking it up.

I wanted to keep a record of it, and see how quickly it grows back.

my skimmer kept tripping my GFCI outlet too, and though i posted a thread on my problem, nobody had any ideas. Make sure the plug is COMPLETELY dry. i left mine to air dry for 3 hours and it worked again. also, try running it on another gfci outlet as sometimes when they trip they dont fully reset for a day or so. hope it works!
