I am sorry But not as sorry as todays so called bands and their music ! I tell you the next band that learns to play good rock will rule Its been a long try spell now like 30 yrs since a good new band hit large. There just seems to be no knew great talents . Where are the Clapton's Nugent's or Townsend's or even a Eddie Van Hallen ??? Nope sorry there ain't none.. The Who would out draw any 2 maybe 3 modern day so called rock bands combined on the same bill by 5 to 1 easy. Peter Frampton is better then any guitarist today.

tangster you must live a very sheltered life or you didnt get out much as a kid. todays bands style is just as good as any. we can go back centuries to mozart and bach, even further to the caveman beating a drum. today we have stevie ray vaughan, metallica, zz-top, joe satriani or prince ( any of them would kick framptons butt on the strings ). also white stipes, sevendust, puscifer, and pshychostick. your only as old as you feel, no hard feelings old timer

 

i wouldn't say frampton is better than any one today but i would have to agree with you that there isn't any decent music coming out anymore although neil young just cut a new lp not to bad. only if i had a time machine. and reef guru metallica and the white strips are not in the same league as the rest of the greats mentioned here.

 

Man you need to check your calendar "today we have Stevie ray Vaughan, Metallica, ZZ-top, Joe Satriani or Prince" these are not bands or artists from "TODAY" I was listening to Stevie ray, ZZ-Top and the others 20 or 25 years ago when I was 25 years old! Prince's classic Purple Rain came out in 1984, and it wasn’t his first. Last time I looked that was 23 years ago which does not qualify for the “Today” label.

I think what Tangster means is the crap (IMOO) that passes for music RIGHT NOW! How big of a draw 20 or 25 years from now do you think Fergie, or 50 Cent, Kid Rock, Britney Spears, Linkin Park, Goo Goo Dolls ect….ect.. would draw, or how many albums would they sell. As a group they might sell out a small theater if your lucky……

Take the Eagles for example, they just released their first album in how many years and after what 4 or 5 weeks it sits at number 4 on the billboard top 100, now I call that staying power! And when they tour no matter what the tickets cost (and it will be big-time $$) you wont be able to get a ticket. And the venues will be places like US cellular Field in Chicago or the super Bowl in New Orleans or Madison Square Gardens.

Look at Bruce Springsteen, when he came to town here in Chicago he sold out in less than 6 hours at the United Center for the 1st night! In my opinion the bands today couldn't’t do that now let alone in 25 years and I don’t really like him but they don’t compare!

Zed Leplin.....last time they played when I was a turd on the lawn burning mushrooms, Tampa Bay Stadium, 1976, Florida. Bad show, it rained, they played for 20 minutes, the stage was under water and the riot goonie squad came out with tear gass, shields, and battons. They beat anyone who was not moving as fast they were. Tragic police brutality.
And for this past show, it was aired at more then 1000 theaters across the country. Only catch, you had to pay $15 at the door to get a live video broadcast........I was down with a bumbed knee and recooping from surgery....so I missed the show of the year, even if it was a simulcast.
And for the bands of today and the music of the day, it hasn't changed in years......everything from your dof ODing on your last gram of coke, to your ol lady giving you the bumb rush for the new guy in town. Sure most of it sucks and is primarily black fissle gangster rap crap.....but the only way to change it is to create a new monster band.
The only true hard core rock band around alive today is, Mettallica. They have been around and playing strong for thirty years now. Sure you have a few older bands trying to get it back together, but only after 15 or 20 years of BS with their personal lives.
So get real with the today sound.......I have solice in many of the new bands in todays market. But you need come to the reality of the bubble-gum generations as well. The Britney Spears, Jennifer LoPez, Christina Agulera, and I forget all those little boy bands still popping off here and there, but they are just like the Bubble-gum from the 80's and 90's. It's all the same. New faces, new names, but still the same old 4 cord repeat, repeat, repeat non-sense words. Only a small hand full of sorta hardcore bands emerging to the tops. Yoou have the metal of today, Rob Zombie, Alice in Chains, Manson, and all the other unholy death metal, gut slashing non-sense comming of age today.

What is there to not enjoy?

You could always pull out your Carpenters or BeeGees vynel and spin on the old 45,

I would definitely go to a Zeppelin concert, if it didn't cost a trillion dollars, which it probably would.

That said, I think there are still bands today that are putting out good music: The White Stripes (the best IMO), Franz Ferdinand, Weezer, and Mettalica (although they are not my style), just to name a few.

There's so much more choice when it comes to music today (more radio stations, cheaper recording, etc.), that a lot of the good stuff gets lumped in with the surrounding junk by people that remember "the good ol' days" and is therefore ignored.

In a similar vein, just because somebody can fill up a place doesn't necessarily make them good in my book. Sure, Led Zeppelin will draw a bigger crowd then the White Stripes, but so will Hannah Montana. They both have bigger fan bases and have (or their parents have) the disposable income to pay whatever for tickets for seats a mile a way from the stage. Us Stripes fans, we're generally fewer and further between and don't have that much money for tickets.

There always was good music being produced, From Bach to Mozart to the Beatles to Zeppelin, there is good music being produced today, and I venture that there will be good music being made in the future.

 

They were pretty damn good, you should watch it. I haven't heard anything bad about it yet.
