Alright, so after waiting and waiting, I finally go my b-day money from my parents and now it's time to buy a new lighting fixture. I'm torn between two fixtures and want your guys opinions. I'm looking at the Current USA T5 HO fixtures. I can't decide between the 24 inch Nova Extreme 4x24W fixture or the Nova Extreme Pro 20 inch 6x18W fixture. My tank is only 20 inches across so I know the Extreme would overhang some. So here are my thoughts
    • I find more bulbs for the 24 inch than I do for the 20 inch fixture so would the 24 inch one give me more options?
    • I'm not worried about cooling, my house stays around 68 all year.
    • Is the couple extra watts from the Pro fixture worth the extra $85?
    • I see that neither fixture has moonlights so do the Current moonlights fit inside of these fixtures? I like the moonlights I have now and want to keep the look at night.
    • With my tank being a cube, would the 6 bulb fixture be better since the lights would be more spread out over the top or does this not really matter?
    • Finally, has anyone ordered from Petmountain.com? Their prices are a lot cheaper than any place I've seen.

    Thanks in advance!

Oh, this would be going on a Biocube 29 if that helps.

I do not have a lot of experince with the light you are suggesting, but I did purchase a Nove Extreme 48" 8x54 fixture. While I liked the light conceptually, in reality it was not very good quality. Over the course of 6 months, I ended up getting 2 replacement fixtures due to ballasts blowing out. On the third time, I returned it for my money back. Hats off to the folks at Dr.'s foster and smith for a great return experience. I just purchased an 8x54 watt TEK T-5 fixture from aquacave.com. Can not talk about the quality of the TEK light yet (Just set it up on Saturday), other then good reviews here on 3reef. Buying experience with aquacave was solid though. So while my experience does not speak for all current/nove fixtures, after three strikes with this one fixture...I would not buy that brand again. Just my two cents.

Sorry, no experience with these fixtures, but your rationale sounds solid on all points.
