Well I know I have asked this question before and people said to keep what I currently have but I am still getting some algae growth and feeling like my skimmer may not be big enough with my growing fish etc. Some info first. Tank is a 125g display, 75g sump a little less than half full, and 20g fuge. Current skimmer is a euro-reef rs135 with sedra 5000 pump. Fish list looks like this...

    4- Bartletts Anthias
1- Yellow Belly Hippo Tang ( about 5in)
1- Blonde Naso Tang (roughly 8-9in including streamers)
    2- Perc. Clowns
    1- Mystery Wrasse
    1- Copperband Butterfly
    1- Mandarin Dragonet
    1- Scooter Blenny
    1-Royal Gramma
    1-Melanurus wrasse

So far the skimmers I am looking at are the sro xp2000, and the 3000int. I also like the xp3000, and 5000int but they are quite a bit more expensive. Anyways I want to get some peoples opinions on what they feel about the skimmers I am looking at and if they think they can handle the load. Will they be an upgrade from current skimmer? Downgrade or the same? Should I keep the skimmer I have and maybe add a dsb to fuge?
Please post your reason for chosing the one you do.Thanks.

I am just a sucker for octopus skimmers. I'm running one of the original octo skimmers on my 150 now and wouldn't trade it for anything.

I dont think the skimmer is your issue. I think you need to tweak the refugium with a large handfull of chateo and a half dozen or more mangroves to improve your nutrient export. A skimmer can remove a lot but of material but only if its in the right form.

Thanks for the replies. I am not saying there is a huge issue with algae right now (more than I would like though). I just think that maybe the euro reef is maxed out for the amount of fish and water that I have. The fuge has cheato, and caulerpa prolifera, Gracilaria ,ulva, codium, and of course HA (<--boo). I am not too worried about the algae right now. I have been able to take care of it in the past. I am just wondering as an extra measure etc.

I love my xp-2000. Have no fantasy of getting a new one. One of those things that Im glad I invested my money in.

Xp-2000 would be good for your tank.... but if you have the chance to go to the 3000... Id do it.

I'd say go with the xp-2000 I think a 3000 might be a little too big IMHO.

I remember from your first post. It's real easy to see where you are at.... how many hours a day does your skimmer produce skimmate? There are 8 hours that you are sleeping, but for the other 16, how many do you think it is producing..... 100% of the time means you are at or limited by capacity. Half the time means you haver plenty of room.

Not scientific, but it will tell you. My skimmer produces about 50% of the time which is right about where it should be for what I have and what it is rated for.

What ever you do... do go too big. IF you see a bigger tank in the NEAR future, plan for it, but you can only go twice as big. If you are happy with the tank you have and will be keeping it for a while, get a skimmer rated for 1.5 times your volume... actual volume..... you will have plenty. Whether that is a 2000 or 3000 you will have to decide.
