Trochus are reported to flip over but I have NEVER seen them do it at home or at the shop. Snails are interesting little buggers.... People never give them enough credit, and sad to say too many sites and stores included will sell the wrong snails to the wrong people.

I have seen mine flip back over a few times. One was dumb and somehow tripped over a shell or something shortly after I stuck him in the tank. Another fell off the glass. My buddy has a few as well, which have flipped as well- they're wild to watch. They whip their foot back and forth violently, and after a minute or so, right themselves. Pretty neat.

Yeah snails in the family Trochidae are supposedly able to right themselves unlike Cortez turbos and the like

It always irritates me having to flip a snail back over. That's why I like these guys ;D I guess in the ocean they have to depend on the kindness of strangers ::)

Yeah more often than not...you flip...you die :D

You can't really go wrong with a hermit crab. I have had my share of bully's though...but I've never had a problem with a blue leg. However, one of my scarlet hermits killed a nassarius snail to take his shell. Ugh that bastard. Am I allowed to say that?

Now I have at least 10 of the blue leg guys running around...normally you can only find 3 or 5 at a time because of my aquascape but they're in there. I hope. :D

I also have 5 nassarius snails (I had 6...), 6 turbos, 1 fire shrimp, 2 cleaner shrimp. They do a good job keeping things in check. IMO you can have too much of a cleanup crew, so I settled for less and my filter and water changes take care of everything else. Yay turkey basters!;D
