Any idea why there are so many tiny bubbles resting on my lace rock?the bubbles are just there...a lot of them......is it 'cause of the lace rock's natural surface structure?...anyway, I was curios. let me know if you guys ever had this happen. Laters.

Something must be creating them like your skimmer or filter and the lace rock is just the easiest or closest place for them to attach. IMO

I just had a problem with that recently. The bubbles were not from the skimmer or any power heads. It turns out that my sand bed was either too shallow or too deep depending how you look at it. It was approx 3 in. I decided to take off abut an inch or so and the problem has been solved. If I were to go with the dsb I should have gone a min of 6in.

i had that problem at first with the power heads with the little air valve thing. even if its only a few bubble's they just keep collecting and get bigger, so i just pulled the air tube out, and it went away. i used tufa rock similar surface.

    did you finish your cycle?

No, not yet....but that's ok. Once it's done, I'll add a cleaning crew and a month later or so, I'll add a fish....so far the water is doing good....I found some good articles about how to stock the tank, etc.

About the bubbles, they don't really bother me..I was just curious...they look kinda cool.

maybe toss a bottle of cycle in there . my nitrites were off the charts for a while , i threw some cycle in there and about 3-4 days it was gone, my nitrates are pretty low too. they were stable for about a week i just did my water change and added my first fish and 3 hermits. cycle cant hurt and its only 6 bucks

as soon as i added the hermits they started too devour the diatoms leaving bleach white trails in the sand, they do a good job.
