Tips on buying & Care for cushion urchins

    Im buying a cushion urchin, i want some tips on how to buy them and what to feed. all i know is that they feed on algae and can be supplemented with noori once a week...... please help

    Got a link to the specific one you are looking at?
    I don't feed mine.
    Tips on buying - if they aren't moving and you don't see the feelers blowing around, I'd pass. A lot of my LFS do not acclimate them well and they are goners.
    When you find a nice one, take your time acclimating it.

    acclimate them just like fishes right? any supplement foods?

    Yeah but I'd go a bit longer as is typically needed for many inverts.
    Like I said I don't supplement.

    kool..... urchin is coming with fishes, so i guess ill acclimate both for longer time...

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    All spines should be intact and stand up, some maybe at a different angle but most should be uniform.

    They love algae even hair algae, some eat coralline algae.

    They will mow down any frags so make sure all are secure.

    Some are very nocturnal and you do not see any action during the day because they feed and night and return to the exact same spot each am.

    No they do not eat corals they knock corals that are not secured over.

    If you have a valued piece of coral that is not secured and falls into another valued coral you will be bummed, happened to me on more than one occasion.

    I had a pencil urchin that ruined my rock structure a few years back so I no longer keep them....
