I'm looking into getting 2x 500 watt finnex titanium heaters... i need a way to affix them to the side of a acrylic sump. can regular heater holders be clipped on to these heaters without melting? has anyone done this?

I think so, just be sure they are a decent distance from the acrylic, they can melt it.

that's what I'm wondering... I've seen some heaters.. won brand for example, that say not recommended for acrylic sumps? they wouldn't be able to melt it unless there was no water, right? if so, how would those plastic heater holders with rubber suction cups work? it would melt those as well, wouldn't you think? especially since those come into direct contact with the heating element?

I would very much like those.. Heck, I would buy those exact heaters if I could find 2 500w titanium elements with the magnetic holders minus the controller.

I see that they sell the enclosure separately, but I'm not sure if these heating elements would fit as they all have some sort of rubber end caps.

Mabe you could use those holders along with some zip ties onn the ends or something. Im pretty sure u can get a 500w controller and add another 500w element to it.

yea, don't know..I was hoping someone had done this already? I already have a heater controller that is good up to 1000w plus that will be plugged into the reef keeper.. so, I only need the heating elements and the heater holder.
