I just received the 2 Two Little Fishies reactors from pink4miss which was a excellent experience. But I am trying to get the one set up on my 29g and the problem I am having is I cannot get the media to fluidize like I see a lot of other people have theirs. Mine is either boiling away, or not moving at all, or maybe minimal boiling in part but no movement/minimal in another. I am using 3 tbsp of brs granular GFO, the pump is a minijet404 turned down as low as it will go. A link to a video of it running http://youtu.be/ctLU6uvj5T0

I am using the same reactor and GFO. It can for sure be hard to get a nice slow, even tumble going.

I don't think it is possible to get a perfectly even slow boil in our reactors. There are always sections that are boiling faster than others, and some not at all.

I find that if I set it to a fast tumble, it slows down after a day and is then acceptable. If I start out with a slow tumble, it will stop after a day, so I start out with a slightly faster tumble.

In my opinion, it doesn't need to be perfect. I feed my fish a lot and the GFO is still doing a good job keeping phosphates down, despite the imperfect way the media is tumbling in the reactor.

Sounds good to me. Obviously it isnt toxic so if it boils a little bit and wears down I dont think the small particles of ferric oxide are going to hurt anything.
