hey just got my tlf reactor and rowaphos from tangster about to set it up. instead of bugging that busy guy with my simple questions ill ask the general population.lol

    just want to know

    1) rowaphos do you rinse befor use.?
2)the top foam disc is it supposed to be on top of the flow plate or under it.
the directions say over, the diagram shows under?
3)how much should i use for a 60 gal(80 gal total system vol.) with active algae problem?

    thanks please help.

I would say the pad should go under the disc, so it doesnt block flow :) Umm, I think you should rinse any chemical media before use, but im not sure :)
And use what the ocntainer says :/

Man its never a bother Hey use the sponge on top of the bottom diffuser plate and Thats all I use I never mess with the top one or diffuser plate either add about 4 spoons or enough to make about a one inch level amount in the reactor of the Rowaphos and adjust the water to make it fluid looking with a slight waving motion I never rinse the stuff myself some do some don't Its never harmed anything .. But never blast the water just a slight steady stream you ever look down a set of tracks and see that Temperature inversion where they look like they are fluidized and floating ? Thats what you want that media to look like and never allow it to stop flowing it will set up like steel . I have a PDF I'll send you if you need It will effect no parameters that I know of . i just recharged mine today and nothing changed :)

but i did get it gently flowing like the heat waves you explained.

is there any ill affect of adding too much?

oh and i used my new mag test you sent and got 1200 pretty low eh.. whats the best way to raise this..

No adding to much will not hurt anything now don't change that out for a few months :) did you test the PO4 to start with ? Ferric oxide well all will take some time Its about a slow flow and an accumulative effect if you have any PO4 in the system are have been stored in the rocks sand and anywhere that is pours. So it can be a long slow trek to rid the system of it.. Test them now then again in a few days and so on until you see no more are present.. if after a few weeks its holding steady at a certain reading then change the media out. But with the iron unlike the alum based stuff this will never release the stored PO4 back into the water once its bound them up it will hold them until you change the media out.

As for the Magnesium just take a scoop like a shot glass or one of those cough syrup dosing cups and add one for every 25 gals of water that will bump your level about where you want it . May take 2 doses I always use simple old Epsom Salts I have not in 40 plus yrs ever saw any problems from the sulfates like so many worry about ? I go by what I know not what I'm told should know :) I will keep using it as needed and after its raised the Mag to the proper levels hell it takes so little a 1.00 carton from a store will last me several yrs LOL

And unlike all the other places you deal with me you call me I care not and am happy to help you out.Call or e/m me anytime you have a problem or question..
