I honestly don't know. I currently run the carbon pads with a 25 micron pad in my Aqueon 75 instead of those inserts. It keeps the water very clear. My CPR BakPak is removing all sorts of nasty green stuff, just want to get my phospates down to near zero.

BRS sells bulk GFO and GAC carbon. Both are good choices but my best advice is DO NOT follow their recommendations on the amounts of GFO, they are way oof base there compared to every other reseller in the industry.

The correct full dose is 10 grams or about one level tablespoon full for every 10 gallons of system water and 1/2 that amount when first starting out so you don't shock the system. Myself, once I have the phosphates in check I cut back to 1/2 dose and maintain it as a preventive measure.

+1 to think brs gfo is what i would run if you already have a a carbon source. It sure doesnt take much.
