Well I'm already getting ready to change out my 29g for a 40b, I just don't find the 29g setup ideal. It's too tall and narrow and seems cramped. If only I knew about the 40b to start with!

Anyway, I was just trying to get a consensus of 40b setups.

If you guys could share your setups I would be extremely grateful.

Lighting, filtration, stands, likes, dislikes, and anything else you may think of.

    Thanks to all in advance.

i have had one before, 10 gallon sump would be great, i just had retro fit t5 and a 150 watt mh in the canopy of mine. i think they are a perfect size for any experienced or less experienced person to work with

Great size tank to work with. If I set up another I would want to have it drilled or get one with a built in overflow, but even with no sump it still works well.

I love my 40B I have the current nova extreme light fixture on it with 6 T5 bulbs, everything is doing great, I have a 30 gal sump/fuge underneath it. I think its really the perfect sized tank.

Drilled with a 10 gallon sump. mag7 return. SWC 120 skimmer. Boostled par30's. Nothing too fancy.

i think par30's or par38's are good for nano or cube tanks but they dont have a clean look over a larger longer tank unless you had them like hung from the ceiling or something. you could also buy a good metal halide or even a used led fixture for the same price that would have a much sleeker look.

You can easily build a fixture for Par30/38s. Some can look really nice, while others are simple clamp ons. It really depends on how you want it to look and how much you are willing to follow through building a custom fixture.
