40b's are great tanks. I would definitely consider a 20g or more for sump. Its just mroe room & easier to work with plus you wont be cramped for equipment. You also got all kinds of options for lightings & equipment for the 40's. If the PAR bulbs are what your looking for (pricey but extremely solid lighting choice), dont forget to make a trip to the local hardware stores and see what kind of track lighting they got. Since they scrrew into normal outlets you literally have an entire lighting department of bulb display options. 40b is also a good size if you want to go LED and still keep it semi affordable. The 4 x T5 you listed is also a very good choice but shop around for the best deal.

40 breeder with a 20L sump and a 29 as a refugium. Eshopps PSK 150 skimmer, Coralife 48" T5 fixture (Yeah, it's too long...) 4 bulbs. 2 10,000K and 2 Actinic. Looking to switch to a 36" 6 bulb T5 fixture, but the 4 bulb works fine for everything. Mag7 return pump and MaxiJet 1200 provide flow. Drilled for a BeanAnimal overflow but don't actually use it that way.

First off thank you to everyone that's posted, I'm so excited about this tank size!

Ok so what do you guys have you tanks sitting on? For some reason I can't find a single stand for a 40b. I'd rather not DIY one as my last project didn't turn out that great...:-/

    Pics would be great...

I used stacked cinder blocks that have been painted black for the stand. Most people that see the tank don't even notice what it's sitting on. I think it cost about $20.00 to make.

My stand is a modified stand for a 75g. I wanted to have as much space under the tank as possible. By the way, 40 breeders Rock!
