IMPE, I would maybe keep a couple of pieces of live rock (clean it really good), nuke the rest, replace the sand bed but keep a small amount to seed the dry sand. I think that will save you a lot of time and effort in the long run with the potential for that rock to keep leeching phosphate and nitrate if you save it and clean it.

I have to agree with everyone else in that it sounds like a really good deal but I would offer the $1000. Getting all of those extras is a real bonus! In terms of the live stock, is there anything you can potentially keep in your existing aquarium? Also, like someone else said, if you have a good relationship with your LFS, they may be willing to keep the live stock for you for a while. You will be a potential "cash cow" for them with your new set up :) Win/win for both of you!

im going to try and make a deal with this dude. hopefully he calls me back in the next day or so. Ive gotten my wife on board with the decision LOL. we have actually been planning to build a 125 or a 180 gallon system ourselves. ever since I got her into the hobby she has loved some of the larger fish and wanted us to be able to keep them. so I have convinced her that a 72" long tank is a must:) so far my plan has worked! LOL, then all of a sudden, this complete system came up for sale!

This is the direction I am leaning towards with this tank. I talked with my lfs and they have agreed to take in the livestock on a trade. so that will probably be the route I go. I have no room at all for anything in my 30 gallon. its running flawlessly with my mated clowns and cardinalfish. Im currently devising a plan to move this tank into my bedroom and put the new tank in its old location. how do you recommend nuking the rock?

Mr Bill makes some good points regarding the rock,if it were me I would scrub thoroughly replace the substrate and recycle the tank.

thats a sick system! the system I am looking at was valued at over 10k new according to the guy that is selling it. when I went to see it I could not believe all of the equipment and accessories he has. I keep getting more and more excited about it

some have reccomended using peroxide but im not so sure about that! I was thinking of scrubbing it in tank water with a very stiff brush, thoroughly rinsing it, replaceing the sand and go from there. one other thing, the fuge is full of chaeto and sand and rock as well. should I consider leaving this in place as is, or completely start it over as well?
