To Fan or not to Fan?

I use a fan on the sump, works like a charm! :clapping:Just keep in mind they are not UL, they have exposed wiring in the chassis that can corrode in a short time so a might be a good ideal to have a second fan on hand in case of failure. For the price, it'll save you on gas running into town to get a new one.

 

78 is a good temp to be at, that way on hot days you have alittle room for error.
+1 on the extra fan idea, beacuse you know on the hottest day of the year the fan will break down, my luck anyways...

Hey remember if your temp does rise again like that you should open the doors to your cabinet to let air flow in the sump area and you could always float a bag of ice in the sump in an emergency. I am looking into a fan myself but I am concerned about evaporation.8)

And you should be concerned about evaporation...
I went through 4 gallons of water in 36 hours... however... I've seen turned the fan off at 78 degrees... and will only turn it back on during light use...
This way I'm limiting it's use and while still keeping the temp. off the 84 degree mark I was once at...

Bottom line... the 20 dollar fan was a miracle...
A chillers, as it appears so far, is no longer on my priority list...
Now it's just getting down my nitrates... bought az-no3... today is day 2... I will post results so everyone knows about that product as well...

I just bought a window ac and put it right beside my tank blowing on it. My MH fixture also has 2 x 4 inch fans (1 in 1 out) works great. I stay at 80 pretty much year round.

 

For fast emergency cooling just fill yourself a couple of 2 liter cleaned out coke bottles and fill them with R/O water and keep them frozen if you go the Ice cube in a bag use R/O in-case the bag leaks or punctures
