I recently adjusted my rocks in my tank to accommodate an egg crate style frag rack... A couple of my orange zoas have not been expanding lately. They were moved from a bottom rock towards the corner of my tank, to a rock that is positioned in the center in my tank, but still on the bottom. Is that move big enough to keep them from expanding? I have a tonnnnnnn of light. A 250watt mh and 2 supplemental t5s as well as blue leds for a night light.

They opened up for a week after the move... its been about two weeks since the tank rearrangement and they have stopped opening up for about 3 days now...

I know i have a a lottttt of light but i arrange my corals accordingly. My tank Parameters are all spot on and all my other corals are fine... Do you think theirs to much light for them or could there be another underlying problem in my tank? These are some of my favorite and most colorful zoas soo im freaking out!

My display tanks only a 20H

Is the flow different in the new spot? If they moved from the end to the center then they could definitely be getting a lot more light.

Something physical irritating them would be my first guess. Amphipods or bristle worms possibly? Water to clean is another thought.

+1 on that, I have more light than that on my 55 gallon (716 watts!) and my zoa's are doing awesome! You could also try a shady spot, but from what I have found, zoa's like the hight light. I have colonies on the sand bed all the way up to a 6" from the surface of the tank and my light is 6" above the tank. Here's a fairly recent FTS

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Just move them back to their original spot if they open again, too much light.

There slowly recovering... im sure if i slowly acclimated them to more light they would be fine. i think i just shocked them. Moved them back to a corner sand bed spot.
    Thanks for all the responses!
