I have my 120 all set up and running with SW mixed in it and I am now seeding the filter (wet dry) with some of the LR from my other tank that I will eventually transfer everything out of. The question I have is should I be running my skimmer or should I wait until I start the transfer (hopefuly Thanksgiving weekend;D)? I know that when I move my corals that there will be some chemical warfare.

I entirely agree with sostoudt! You are always on the safe side with skimming!

People have told me there's no need to skim in my 5.5 gal.. Well I've been skimming for about 4 months now and have noticed a big improvement.. I say it can't hurt and every little bit helps....

I say don't skim because if it's a new tank you will be removing ingredients that you need for a new tank. I never run a skimmer on a new tank for about the first 6 months but I was taught SW by some of the older people in this hobby.
