Hey guys! Thinking of ordering one of these today. Already read that 9 page thread, but had a question that I totally forgot about! My tank is 30" x 12". I just noticed that these are 15" wide!! I have 2 HOB filters (One is a skimmer). The tallest being 5.25" above the back of the tank.

Will this light fixture fit overtop of this while attaching to the tank? Or would I have to machine up new legs or some such?

If it WON'T fit, is there any advantage to me buying the 30" over the 24" one they offer? They seem to offer the same amount of lighting, the only difference seems to be the width dimension, but if I can't mount it on the tank, I guess it doesn't matter (Of course, if I can't mount it on the tank, I might not be able to get it at all as ceiling mounting is not an option).

With the mounts/legs that it come with you will be fine. It allows for clearance for HOB items. I have a CPR bak pak on my tank with no problems at all.

I forsee algea problems in your hob equipment becoming a real issue the first time you let the regular maintenance slide for a week or two. Lord knows I ran into that with my overflow box when I landed in the hospital for a week in september and my pendant isn't even directly over it.
