    I got this guy about a week and a half ago. He seems to have good color, but never opens all the way. I think I have it under too much light. Right now it's sort of high in the tank, getting moderate flow, and pretty strong light. I have (1) 150 watt MH, and two 65 watt dual actincs.

    Where should I move it to?

    So I'm most likely giving him WAY too much light. Ok, I'll try a lower position, see how that works. Thanks!

    Hi, here is my "pat" answer to a post such as yours;
    Corals will take time to adjust to their new surroundings, this may take a few hours to many days. The reason for this is that the coral came from a LFS (local fish store) and we don't know what their water parameters are. It would be too extensive to change our parameters to theirs every time we buy a coral. However, knowing your water parameters will help. The basic ones for corals would be; Calcium,Magnesium,Alkalinity,Ph and Nitrate and Phosphate levels) along with Temp. of your tank and Sg (specific gravity).Size of tank and what type of lighting (Metal Halide, T5, or regular florescent). If I knew those basics I would be able to tell you if something was out of the "normal range" and by correcting the out of range one(s) this would help the coral adjust.
    So, let me know and I will be glad to help.

    Some things you already mentioned. As Danny pointed out, the bottom is a good acclimating spot for most coral especially soft coral. Some Toadstools are finicky, I have a yellow on that seems to content to not extend its' polyps during the day but I see it looks beautiful with only the moon lights on.
