    yesterday my friend brought me a 2'' green short polyp stuck through a tooth pick and egeded the tooth pick in the rock so how long would it be before it heals

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    I would say 2 weeks on the outside.

    That is the way I actually used to do it.

    The tookpick is what I have always used on ones that dont have a rock they are attached to, HOWEVER you can also do what me and alot of other reefers do and once the stem has attached to the rock, cut the toadstool/cap off and slice it like a pizza and then each pice will brow into a new leather coral...I have ALWYAS had success with that method
