It probably got light shock. Did you run the new light for the same number of hours as the old light?

You are obviously shocking it with light. Do you have a place to put it where the light is not quite so direct? Do you have any pics?

This happened when i upgraded lights...cut your photoperiod down an hour or so and slowly get it back to normal..all of my corals went into shock for a couple days

So need dummy terms.. I have been running the new hood for about 2 hours now. should I just run it for an hour less today. Normal for me about 11 hours.. Should I run for 10? and do that for a few days?

Others opinions may differ, but I would run 6 or 7 hours at first. Then add 1 hour each day until you back up to your normal lighting schedule.

No disrespect to any one or their answers, I know all mean well. My advice is to get some screen (non metal) and put it over the tank in say 5 layers, run the lights 1/2 the time (4-5 hours) and see how things respond. do that for a week. After the week is done, start the next week adding one hour to the light schedule and remove one piece of screen. Proceed each week until you have a total then of 8 hours of light with no screens. This is a "tried and true" method and I am sure there are variations of it. It isn't so much how long, it's how intense, and from looking at what you just employed, it is very intense. You must acclimate things to the new intensity.

Thanks for the responses. I jumped the gun on this without reading. Was stupid. Thought it would improve my environment. I will try out the methods. I just hope I didn't hurt the toadstool Was doing really well in my tank. Has grown a bit as well.
