I researched this coral and it's supplements used to stay healthy are as follows: Strontium, Iodine, Trace Elements.

    1. How much Strontium and Iodine Per week? 1 cap full?

    2. What are trace elements?

    THANKS IN ADVANCE!

you need to test before adding trace elements. You could over dose your tank.

I mostly agree with the idea that supplements are a waste of $$ though if you have hard corals its a no brainer to dose Mg, Ca and some form of Alkalinity. For minor species, WCs are the way to go. Most of the other supplement products out there are total crap IMO. My favorites are the "all in one" additives. I wonder how they get enough Ca, Mg and Carbonate plus the dozens of other things they list on their labels to all coexist in a tiny little 6 oz bottle without precipitation? My guess is they are selling slightly concentrated synthetic sea water which does in fact have all those elements. And someone has already gone to the trouble of mixing it together into a powdered form too ::) Just use a high quality salt with your regular water changes and you'll be fine. No need to dose anything unless you know exactly what your dosing for. Trying reading the coral propagation book by Anthony Calfo. It goes into detail about the specific requirements of each species.

Well, with what I just said I do dose Iodine without testing, I notice a significant difference in the coral's reaction when I do, especially zoa's. But you can overdose VERY quickly, I would never recommend a newb to try and dose it... sounds weird, but it is very hard to test for and an overdose will result in many losses. Just do research on the basic elements and what their roles are in a reef, you will quickly learn why corals need things to thrive and prosper, while learning what can harm your coral's too.

Thats one good thing about most mushrooms and leathers.. They can be beautiful and are good corals to start with.. And I think what you give filter feeders are good for them also..

    Good Luck, Larry

Not exactly, you still need to test, adjust Ca, Mg, Alk and PH as needed, but for the most part the products like Coral Vite and Coral Accell and all that other stuff is just a waste of money, oh ya same thing as Purple Up too IMO. You just need to dose the proper amounts with were your levels are at, given those and plenty of good light from a quality fixture and your corals should thrive 8)

I dose Alkalinity and Ca only and perform a 20% water change every other week. My toadstool is doing great. IMO as long as you perform regular water changes your ank will get all the trace elements it needs.
