Ok, ya I plan on doing every other week water changes and dose Iodine and Strontium. Since I have both and believe I should take advantage of dosing both. but the leather coral has come out and is looking GREAT!! ;D

Hi iskim, you sound pretty new to all of this. Iodine and Strontium/Molybdenum are a staple for any reef tank and should be used. The proper dose is 1 cap full (5 ml.) per 50 gal. of water volume. Calculate your total water volume and remember to subtract for displacement of rock and substrate. Iodine should be tested for as levels above what is recommended can be lethal. Testing for Strontium/Molybdenum is not as critical and even test kits for them say (as I was informed by my LFS buddy) they are not accurate. I don't make blanket statements about trace elements, like, they are useless. I believe they have their place and water changes add only minimally to replenishing the water. There are many of us who do monthly or every 6 weeks water changes and some even go longer. A good Amino acid supplement is always helpful and that can not be found in salt mixes. My tank is an all soft coral tank so I have practical experience.

Not really new to it all, just haven't really ever had corals usually in the past I have done community tanks with an anemone or 2 that's about it and I know the dosages for each as it states on the bottle I have used Iodine for the past year now I just really wanted to know what everyone does to keep their leather corals looking good and healthy

No need to bash others opinions on a family friendly forum, you have a comment to make that you disagree, fine.... keep the bashing to yourself, it truly is that simple.

sorry, what i thought i was saying. IF you dont have a test kit its best just to do reg. water changes not just dumping a cap full of this and that and thinking thats what it needs with out testing

Oh, my dear nano! Have you found a way to think negative of my opposing opinion? All I was stating was I don't make blanket statements. If you do, that is up to you. No bashing, just stating a fact about myself. I realize it is difficult on a forum to distinguish between "tones" since we can't "hear" the person we only reading words so I won't hold it against you.
