Toadstool not opening.

    Toadstool has been in tank for about a month and is still not opening. Here are a few pics of it, does it look normal? all params are good. all other corals are open. 4bulb t5ho. 2x actinic. 2x 10k

    I think its ok. I had one not open for almost 4 months, then when it did it grew so fast. When I finally sold it to a local reefer it was about 18" across.

    Jeeze. I just want it to open! Not the prettiest center piece when its all closed up haha

    I suggest you give it more flow.

    Usually when they dont open it is a Flow issue like Cheryl stated. Try adjusting the flow around the coral.

    Id move it all around the tank, you wont kill it so its worth a try.

    What she said. Sometimes mine gets a little weird and doesn't open up and I blast it with a turkey baster and it sometimes helps coax it open...probably a sign it wants more flow though.

    True, you won't kill it, but you will piss it off for a few days, which makes it hard to determine if you actually helped it or not.

    Mine took nearly a month to open under 2x T5HOs. Once it opened, I moved it twice. Both times it took a week for it to open again. Now it's growing like a weed. If you have good flow around it, I would leave it be. Although it's not opening, it is still perfectly healthy and is acclimating itself to your tank. Moving it now will only prolong the process.

    I didnt move it, just pointed my power head right at it. So i guess we will see what happens.
