Hi about 2 weeks ago I posted a thread about my toadstool.

(I recently bought a toadstool from jacks and it is now bald and is getting thesewhite/brown marks on the sides of it any ideas.)

Well its been about 2 weeks and he still not back to normal, is this normal? How long does it take? It has algae growing on the top of it and still has the brown marks on the sides. It doesnt look to be melting or dying, what should I do, or should I just leave it be.

is it in a "dead" area , no flow? thats the only reason i can think it may start getting algae on it while its molting, which i assume its doing.

I have flow on mine to the point that it sways in the current. It does shed occasionally. There are a few zoos growing very close or actually on it. These do not seem to annoy the mushroom at all.

Im going to try to move it to a little more current and see if it speeds up the process. All I see on top is that algae as you can see in the pic. Is the stuff on the sides look like it is molting?

It looks like it is "shut down" to shed, however, I couldn't quite see all your tank but it looks as if you have an algae issue. It definitely needs more flow. I have 3 and I have found they like moderate to strong flow. In your case, I would get a soft tooth brush and in the tank brush all the algae off and clean it up. I do that when mine get a little "funky" and they seem to like it. After a few days it will come around.

Yeah I used to use tap water and my phosphate is high so I have PhosGuard in my canister filter now to bring it down. I'm trying to get it right I cant stand looking at all of your guys awesome clean tanks when mine has to be green on the sides. My hair algae seems to be going away so hopefully it will be clean after a little while. I try to take a pic without everyone seeing my ugly green tank, not because I dont want people to talk about it to fix it, im just embarrassed by it.

i agree newbie , no need to be the least bit embarassed. weve all had things go wrong for one reason or another. just have to keep soldiering on and learning from mistakes or what we just plain dont know. toadstools are hardy , give it that little TLC that was recomended and im sure all will be good. good luck and keep us updated.
