I think that could be an awesome setup, 1 lionfish, and just all corals! haha i think it could look sweet if i do it right.

That might be the way to go...

So I have the two 420's and a MJ-1200 (cobalt) on powerhead mode for flow in this 29 and the flow seems good in terms of flow.

My tank is 30" long tho so the umph from the 420's isn't enough to make it across with any kind of gusto what so ever.
There are plenty of folks with the 29 BC so I think their input will be much more accurate. I'm just dissapointed with the 420's in my situation, and I assume the 550's won't be much different...

Look into a Reef Angel. Their standard kit will do temp, pH, wavemaker, ATO, and individual controls for daylights, actinics, and refugium light. Plus feed mode and water change mode. This is out of the box without doing any additional programming.

I have done a little additional programming on mine, making my PH's individually turn on for a random amount of time (between 15-60 seconds), use one of the floats for a tank overflow in case overflow box fails (will shut off the return pump and sound alarm), control a fan for cooling and a couple other things.

Also, as far as which PH's to use, I have both a 450 & a 550 in my 46 bow. The 450 is definitely undersized, but the 550 does a good job in this size tank. I actually picked up a 750 to put in as well.

the reef angel is 219 or 239 depending on dimming signal, i had looked at it a few days ago but just was not sure what is the best way to go. If i have no dimming lights does it matter what one i get?

No, just get the PWM (which is the $219). I use the dimming ports for alarm (you can get a buzzer that plugs in from them, but you do need to program to tell it when to turn the alarm on) and to control the speed of my cooling fan.

If you consider an ATO is ~$90, a wavemaker is $55, pH is $50?, temp control ? (not even sure you can get a separate controller for temp)...you can see it is well worth the price for what you get (IMO).
