Today I had my dive at the power plant and got to see some cool stuff. I don't have any pictures of what I actually saw because it was a working dive. The area that I was never sees light so all the animals were dark water creatures.
I saw a ton of crabs. One about 10" across. A giant sort of sea slug. It was circular and had a tiny crab hitching a ride(at least I think it was a slug). Several nudibtances, tube like anemones and sort of peppermint shrimp. Was really a cool dive. The last time I dove there I got to work right next to a 7' leopard shark. I have the video somewhere.
Just wanted to share with fellow reefers because I thought it was really cool.

I wanna go in the yellow cage! That sounds like a cool opportunity indeed.

Yea, the cage is my favorite part. I was actually not to far from you guys today.
It was pretty cool and exactly why I wanted to share.

The nudibranches were white with like feathers on the front half and and another on the back half. They had fluorescent purple stripes throughout their body. Near looking.

Sounds like a pretty cool job! I wonder what type of Nudibranch that was?

Thank you, it is pretty cool. Most of the time!

I don't know what an aircraft mechanic pay. The pay is decent, the industry is seasonal though. There hasn't been a whole lot of work since the BP incident and since all the problems with the government. If you get 40 hrs a week and a decent health and retirement then IMPO I would stay where you are.

Thanks, I really don't know. I was searching a lot last night and couldn't find it. Every one that I saw had purple stripes that went the length of the body and the ones that I saw had horizontal lines on the body. I researched, like a lot. No souther California slug that I saw even look close to what I saw.
Maybe it's a radioactive slug that mutated its colors and is super strong. Lol I don't know.

Getting ready to dive again today and walking down to make sure certain pumps are locked out so they don't turn on when were in the water. If you think you have a big pump on your tank then think about this. 8 pumps, half a million gallons per minute. That's 30 million gallons an hr each, 240 million gallons an hr. all together. Any of those pumps wouldn't feel me going through. Crazy huh.

You'd go through fast, though.

I bet those pumps aren't "diver-friendly" tho...not like a pod going thru our small pumps.

    Just be careful down there.
