    Whimps! :D

Last Thursday it was 116F here.

I do not run a chiller, just fans. A peak of 84F in my tank is not uncommon. Evap about 1.25gal/day (~120g total water volume). AC is a way of life...

Tampa was like 84 and my tank stayed steady at 80.4 lights on for 8 hours
Then it goes to about 78.6 after lights out and what I see at 6am

Even though I live not far from horkn, I'm right near Lake Michigan, where the temp is much cooler. Yesterday it was 70 in the afternoon here, but when I drove out to the freeway, three miles from my house, it was 90. My tanks never get hot, and most years I don't run the AC.

who you callin a wimp? I'll take your combo of heat and low to no humidity anyday! come to any city east of the Mississippi with just a 95 degree temp and it'll put you on your knees with the extra humidity we all live with here :jester:

I remember visiting my aunt in phoenix in the late 80's for the 4th of july, I was running around in jeans and a jean jacket in 110 deg temps and felt quite comfortable :)
had I got on a plane in that outfit and landed in DC the same day I would have passed out with a heat stroke before I could catch a taxi home from the airport!

Here in FL, avg temps outside range from 90 to 96 or higher, daily. A/C keeps indoors at 70, chiller comes on at 80, shuts off at 78.8--but tank is adjacent to an outdoor wall that's poorly insulated, so direct sunlight on the exterior concrete block makes the chiller come on after being off only 30 min's.

Now that I have a controller, I'm going to try a fan blowing down on my sump during the total photoperiod (actinic on-actinic off); 8a-8p. To combat the increased evaporation, I'll change the ATO for the solenoid switch from twice a day every 12 hours; to 4x daily, every 6 hours.

Well, at 8:45 last night it was still 90 outside, right next to the water and it's going to be another hot one today. :(

Well, it looks like everyone's tank seams to be fine, despite what mother nature has in store for us!

I guess I'm pretty lucky not needing a fan to cool the tank or sump. (so far) ;)
