Actually, I think it might have been Matt (Zesty), sho had mentioned using my 125 for the sump originally.
When I measure the area in my sump room, it was about 8" too short.
So I started contemplating how easy it would be to move/modify that wall opposite my furnace. And Viola
Gotta think outside the box. Now to put in a inwall viewing side for my soon to get wet 40b frag tank in the sump room.

It wasn't the beers motivating me, but they help grease the hinges ;-)

Im a big advocate for the 125 being your sump/fuge. More water volume is better. Do you plan on adding it later down the road? Or initally?

I think norg planted that in my ear, I just saw you shortly after that when we all met at the festival and we were talking about that. Either way, sounds like a good plan to me!

Now this is an AWESOME idea. I can't wait to see this!

    Hey Nick,
I'm getting the area in my 'sump room' ready so it will accomodate a 6ft tank. Of course I have to take the 125down and transfer it to the 180 and get it going in the same area the 125 is in now.
I was thinking, because the corralline is all over the back of the 125 now and when it's a sump, I won't be using the watrer level all the way to the top of it- I'll have to clean the back wall first so there won't be alot of corralline die off putting 'bad stuff' into my system.
As soon as I can however- the 125g will be online as my sump.

Thanks Matt, you and your daughter (OK, not for me, she plays well with my 10 y/o son!) are welcome anytime.

Some more work, showing before the wall move and with it taken down.

I laid the vacuum hose where the wall will be angled to accomodate the 6 ft long sump.
The drill is laying where behind the wall will be.

Yeah, every now and then she talks about coming over and playing with your son. It's really tough with busy schedules and holidays coming up. However, we need to plan something though, it's been too long. Maybe even just a couple hours after work sometime or something. We'll figure something out.

A couple of hours is best. I'm off many days a week.
    Tonight may work too?

    Hi Ya'll,

I'll continue to update this thread, with any noteworthy progress toward the completion of my 180 as it happens.

However, due to the COLD weather and my plans to host the January WisconsinReefSociety Party again like I did last year...

I'm trying to make a responsible plan to complete the 125 to 180 transfer sometime this Spring 2014.

I could do it now, but the finishing coats/stain for the stand and canopy exterior is not complete, and I dont want to do that until it warms up again some.

    In General I already have:
    -Main stand frame built
    -Canopy frame mostly built
    -the 180-drilled
-the 6ft long Coast to Coast overflow installed
    -a suitable/beefier Return Pump (Jabeo DC12000)
-the 3rd 120W LED - (need to upgrade the 2 existing ones to the full spectrum/dimmable)
-Suitable sumps (after the swap my current 125 will be used as my sump!)
-all the coral/livestock initially from my well stocked 125g,
    etc.

I feel I've made a good decision by postponing thru the winter. My 125 is doing awesome, and I think will go even better with a bit more planning, etc.

Here's tonights pic of my current 125g FTS (more semi close ups on the 125 thread)
