Fun question... can they be kept together?

    Thanks guys as always

    What size is the tank?

Maroons get large and are very aggressive. Tomatoes stay smaller and can be a bit feisty. All clowns can be feisty! But these two tend to be the meaner ones...but I would say go with tomato.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
You picked the top 2 out of 3 meanest clownfish. If I had to choose it would be the Maroon, beautiful fish. You can attempt to keep them together but once they get older you will have problems.

    Thanks for your input guys...

Kc the tank is a 72 bowfront. Im not planning on housing both it was just a question. I actually went back to the LFS where I found the gold striped I really liked size and all. And they had just sold it. Haha. Oh well.

I had a pair of gold stripes in my old tank. GREAT FISH> loved then and miss them. RIP as they died in their new care takers tank. I had them for several years. the female would nip me when I was cleaning but nothing out of the ordinary for them. she never led to the death of any other fish, nor did she bother anyone else.

I had a pair of tomatoes and they went back to the store after 4 months. They were about 2.5 to 3 inches longs, but mean as hell!

I wouldn't get these unless you want an aggressive or semi-aggressive tank. I like clowns but they're just way too mean with my other fish. Clowns kind of stressed and killed my first red firefish too. So beware.

Gorgeous maroons pickup. Ive decided on the maroon. But now I gotta find the right one. The tomatos I saw in a couple different stores were rather aggressive. I agree with you Magnus not wanting an aggressive tank.

My goldstripe maroon doesn't have a mean streak in him although if he had, might have his tail still and not be recovering in the fuge. The purple tang hates clownfish. Goodluck finding a calm tempered one

Thanks B! she was a very very dark fish. almost black with a dark gold and rimmed in bright orange. the little guy there was just after he was added with her so he had not gotten his gold yet, but when i sold them, he had darkened up and gotten some gold. fwiw, these two were from Sustainable Aquatics. they are a Great source for these and I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who is looking at clownfish. they sell to stores and directly to the public as well. I plan to get a little onyx from them soon to mate with my current onyx.
