Just because he doesn't have a Ph.D. doesn't mean he has no super valuable skill set. What if he's working for Rolex, hand-making watch gears? That's a seriously specialized skillset, and is very valuable, yet you don't need higher education to do the job, and would be very hard to transition out of to nearly any other job.

We live in the United States, not China. Relocate.

If you do something super specialized, relocating and doing it somewhere else just isn't an option. Consider my example before, of making watch gears by hand for Rolex, and think of how many places that person could go and do that job. Once you eliminate Rolex, the number is very close to 0.

From reviewing his initial post, he's only been employed with the company for 90 days. How much skill, outside of training or education, can be learned and developed in that amount of time? Minimal at best. The point in the particular statement you quoted wasn't a concern of his skill, but Unions being notorious for gaining wages for employees well beyond the industry standard.

Encouragement is great, but folks also need to give a realistic point of view. Pursuing compensation for time off is legitamate, seeking reemployment with an organization who obviously doesn't find value in what you offer is a foolish decision.

I am a little surprised - Why are some of you debating someone’s career decision, ambitions and desires. Wish the guy some luck and move on ….we support fellow 3reefers, its that simple.

Incognito nailed it – waiting is the worst part with most things ! Keep us posted Shecter!!

100% agree - support should be the only posts IMO. Or don't post.

I don't see the op asking for advise ;)

+1 on this. He didn't post on a SW forum looking for advice. He posted just for some support.

+1 on this also. I was in your shoes and it is very hard to wait it out. Politics came into play for me, I hope it doesn't in your situation.

IMO I wish we could "all just get along". He has his reason for wanting his job back. Anyone looking to make him look foolish should go elsewhere.

I'm going to close this because I don't see it going anywhere but downhill from here. If the OP wants to update it, he/she can send me a PM and I will be happy to reopen it.
