In general..If an anemone gets sick or dies, it can release toxins (poisons) and wipe out the whole tank. I will never have an anemone, not worth the risk to me. Especially when there are so many nice torch corals that look like anemones, and will also host clowns!

Well. I tried that this morning, and it took 3ml (3 entire syringes) to get it to finally turn blue.:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Perhaps I don't understand the test correctly, but Step 6 says hold the syringe with the tip up and look at where the top of the piston is. I gather I have to count how much of the solution is left in the syringe, which would take me to 0.00 which is 500ppm. Therefor my calcium is too high. Am I right?

I tossed the anemone this morning. Better to sacrifice him than have my entire tank go down in flames. :( I really wanted to seeit grow tho :'(

You are correct in deducing that your test results are based upon how much solution is left. However this only applies when the test is performed according to the directions. Remember--you voided your test results after you filled that syringe the second time.

In your case, this was an experiment to see if it was colorblindness, or lack of calcium in your water that preventedg you from using this test. You now have your answer. You were simply trying to find out if you could discern the "clear blue" for which the test calls.

In your case, your calcium is so low it's undetectable. If your calcium was too high, you'd experience a color change after only adding a fraction of that first syringe.

    Make sense?

If you'd like to up your calcium, I recommend using Bulk Reef Supply's two part solution.

    You're on your way!! :)

I put down on the two part solution, just waiting for it to come in via good ol' ups.

The lights supposed to arrive on wednesday.

Waiting for the azoo fans to drop over sump to try get that temp down.

Going to use the corallife supplement in the meanwhile. see if it helps.

I saw a dosing pump on bulkreefsupply, drew's doser, should i grab one of those?

I've never heard of those guys, and I've never used a dosing pump. Maybe someone with some experience in that area can address that question. Sorry.
