Anyone watch Deadliest Catch tonight (Tues). Man, what a mess. Its a sad situation for those kids. We know Captain Phil is already gone & the kids and crew are left there waiting to see if he'd be OK.
    What a tragedy.

The whole episode was a eye opener. Makes me wonder if the show will continue with all of the personnel changes. Also, if we're lucky, the next season will be longer than 8 episodes!!

Yeah, this whole season has been crazy. Great show though, and I even watch after the catch as well.

I think it'll be OK, especially since Phils kids wanna take over the boat; Edgar Hanson wants out; Time Bandit boys have told Mike that he'll be the new skipper soon.
I think they'll have plenty to "write" about in the coming seaons. I think its the theme of adventure shot in realtime that gets me. But also, the lives of these guys living on the edge/defying the odds that gets me.

and I watch it regularly - really enjoy that series.

they have also just started one about fishing for swordfish and Tuna, plus sharks when they hit cooler water. (sorry cant recall what the series is called) seen the 1st 2 episodes up till now and its also very interesting TV

Jake may have more experience as a crabber than Josh, but Jake has 2 strikes against him. 1, he is an addict, and needs to go to rehab (hopefully is/ has already) and 2, he is immature for his age, and would not be the right person to run a ship. The captain is responsible for everyone on board. Jake can't even take care of himself.

Edgar (Hansen) is on the Northwestern, not the Cornelia Marie (where Phil and Jake and Josh are). I don't see Sig Hansen, the capt of the NW stepping down any time soon.

Regarding the Time Bandit, Jonathan Hillstrand is one captain (Andy Hillstrand is the other capt). He is apparently looking to retire, but I think his short vacation John is taking will have him back to full strength when he comes back. Mike is filling in as co captain for John while he is away for the 20 days. It has been said that Mike now already owns a salmon fishing boat, so who knows if he will even crab fish next season.

My Fiance's best friend lives in AK, has for some time, and she has been on a salmon boat in AK. Fishing up in AK for work is a tough life.
