    Yehhh!

The aquarium is rocked and sanded. Now it's time to start working on the lights, as many have questioned me repeatedly.

Awesome! How many pounds of rock is that? My guess is around 150 (or more), yet you still have so much room in the tank :)

It turns out I’m going to have to brake my number one rule! I strongly believe in the 90 to 120 day rule and contract all new builds with this rule. Simply put, a new system will have all equipment operational except for the lights for 90 to 120 days with no fish and corals. But it turns out that the individual that is inheriting the 90-gallon system needs to pick it up soon, so the 90 has to come down, which means some of the fish and corals will have to be transferred to the 300. A few fish are being donated to the Eddie Soler’s reef tank of rescue. Luckily everything is in balance and all I need to do is monitor everything closely.

I do not like doing this and I know I will see something negative down the line from this situation.

Surely you must know someone that can house your livestock so you wouldn't have to break your rule.

I don't remember if you said it earlier or not, but was that all live rock you used from another tank? That would certainly help with the new additions.

That's a bummer giving a new tank time to mature and build a slime coat is a good rule/policy for new builds. We are in a hobby that makes us all do something once in a while that we would be against as a rule:)

Good luck with the change over your fish will sure enjoy the extra room!

The rock used in the 300 came from rock stored in my garage. For the last eights years I've stored 550 pounds of live rock in a 70-gallon tank with circulating water.
