Well I thought it was time to post some pics of my tank, I'm still trying to figure out how to get the nice close up pics but I unfortunately only have a Nikon coolpix S4100 so fair warning I'm not a skilled photographer (not even a novice lol) but here they are.

I may take a video later as I know I'll be able to get some nice close ups then.

Try taking your pics straight on to your corals so the glass does not distort the image. Your camera might have a macro setting for close ups.

    I really like your scape.

    How old is the tank?

    What fish do you have?

I'll try and get some closer shots of the scape tomorrow and the fish now that I know my camera has a macro mode (thanks 2in10)

The tank is just about a year old, its definitely gone through some trials and tribulations just as I'm sure we all have, when I first started with livestock I had 2 occs, purple dottyback, coral beauty, flame hawkfish and a coral banded shrimp.

The coral beauty got a sudden bad case of ich, I removed him from the tank but it was too late he, the dottyback and the 2 occs died, amazingly the hawkfish survived never even showed a sign of ich, just in case I removed him anyways a put him in the qt for four weeks while the DT recovered.

I then decided that I was going to make the tank a semi-aggressive/aggressive tank and got a fuzzy dwarf lionfish, snowflake eel, flame angel and yellow tang, after about 7 months the yellow tang died. I recently gave the snowflake eel to my lfs as he was getting quite aggressive and I wanted to add new tankmates.

So right now there is just the flame angel, the hawkfish (he's a tough dude), the fuzzy dwarf and the coral banded, I'm hoping to add more in the very near future

As far as corals I have 3 colonies of candy cane, a duncan, a hairy mushroom (that refuses to grow), what I believe is a frogspawn, a couple small zoas, yellow polyps and a galaxea, again with more to come in the near future.

Yeah I have, everything has been pretty good ammonia 0, nitrites 0, nitrates ~20, phosphates 0.5 (still coming down) calcium 420, alk 10, not sure what magnesium is I don't have a test kit for that last time I had it tested at my lfs it was around 1450 (I think)

But yeah everything's been falling right on the line with the exception of maybe the nitrates and phosphates but I'm working on those

so my wife surprised me with a new Canon DSLR last night!! :)

I must have read a dozen articles including the tips on 3reef on how to take macro pics with it, it was too late to take pics last night as the lights were off but I took some today, let me know what you guys think...
