I have a 40g breeder and I'm thinking of adding a Flame Angel but am hesitant as I know it's a 50/50 gamble on whther they might nip at corals or not. My tank has mostly zoa/palys with a few LPS but I know I would b devastated if I saw a Flame Angel munching on some of my prized high-end Z's & P's. What do you think, would a Flame Ange bother those? If so woula Coral Beauty be any better? I'm looking for a bright red fish and don't want a Flame Hawk as they tend to perch on top of corals, if went with the CB instead what other bright red fish suitable for a 40g are out there? It would really be too bad as I think the Flame Angels are one of the most gorgeous fish availble to hobbyists.

I bought a Flame and a coral beauty together about 2 years ago. Neither of them EVER touched any of my corals. (Leathers, frogspawn, kenya tree, all kinds of zoa's duncans, and some others). I noticed YESTERDAYthat my coral beauty was nipping at one of my hammers. It dawned on me that I havent been feeding as much as normal over the last week or 2 so I fed them right away and then kept an eye on him for the next few hours and he stopped nipping. Its def a crap shoot. Good luck however you decide to go.

I'd really like to get one for my next tank but I know it's a risk. They are just soo cool looking.

It's my zoo's and palys that I am most worried about...they are our pride & joy in the tank...everything else I'm not as worried about.

I'm thinking of getting a leopard wrasse (blue-star, divided or african whatever name you want to use for this fish) as I want a fish that will keep any unwanted pest snails mowed down. I know, I keep making this harder don't I :). I really want that Flame Angel but I'm just so scared that if I get it and put him in the tank he'll eat some zoos and once he's in the tank it would be super difficult to catch him if he started creating problems :(.

don't mean to be a party pooper, but a leopard wrasse isn't the easiest fish to keep, they need a well established tank, a wide variety of foods fed frequently! I'd send member evolved a PM or post on his thread and see what he says about it. He's the wrasse guru and will help.;)
