God its so difficult to know what to do I have a qualified marine biologist who works in marine shop where I live telling me to go ahead straight away and put a couple of small fis in, say a couple of clowns. He says the live rock will die if no fish waste in system. I obviousely dont want to be cruel to livestock but getting a definative answer on when to stock is very difficult

So the tank is not cycled?

No the liverock will not die. There will be plenty of die off on fresh rock to provide more than enough food for the bacteria needed.

i would not add any coral but a a fish or two would be good as long as they only cost a few dollars like a damsle or small clown. that is small i did mine with a clown and six line rass.

I'm going to have to disagree with the above post. It's unfortunate people are willing to be careless with the lives of animals depending on how much it cost them.

If you're trying to cycle your tank and really are concerned the liverock will die with nothing to eat, throw in a raw shrimp to decay.

If you are looking for something just to cycle with, why not use a molly? Super cheap, easy to catch and easily converted to saltwater since they are brackish water fish. I converted feeder guppies once, by accident, haha. I tossed them in to my molly tank that I keep as feeders and it set to 1.018 salinity so when they were tossed into the big tank for food, they didnt just die off or struggle. It gave the fish I was feeding more work for their dinner. The guppies lasted roughly 6 months hiding behind a return until they were found.
